Summary

Flight Crew Trainer does not have an account, advertising, or analytics. TecAv Software does not receive your scripts, recordings, menu pictures, or profile names. We do not sell personal information. Training data stays on the device unless you export a file or email one to us for support.

Data stored on the device

The app stores the following locally so a profile can be opened again:

• Profile content — the profile name, folder names, scripts, who says each line, timings, spoken-word entries, the descent setting, menu colour, cue sounds, and a training log.
• Recordings — audio you record for a line. Used to play that line back during training.
• Menu picture — optional. A photo you choose from your library. Stored inside the profile.
• Language — the screen language, if you pick one instead of following the phone. Stored on the device, not inside the profile.

These values are not sent to TecAv Software.

Microphone and speech recognition

The microphone is used when you record a line. That recording stays in the profile on the device.

If you use a check that listens to what you say, the app tries to recognise it on the device. If the phone cannot do that, the words you speak for that check may be sent to Apple’s speech recognition (iPhone or iPad) or Google’s speech recognition (Android) so they can be turned into text. TecAv does not receive that audio or the transcript. You can train with the screen and with generated voices without using the microphone. You can refuse the microphone in the system settings.

Generated voices are the voices already on the phone. TecAv does not run a voice service.

Photos

The photo library is optional, and only if you set a main-menu image. The picture stays in the profile. The app does not use the camera.

Encrypted profile files

Export, import, and company publish use a .fctx file encrypted with AES-256-GCM and a password you or your company choose (at least 4 characters). Only Flight Crew Trainer can open it, and only with that password. If you save the file to Files, Mail, or AirDrop, it leaves the app under your control. We do not receive it unless you email it to us.

A company, or TecAv on their behalf, may place an encrypted profile on this website. The app opens the download. The password is turned into a file name on the device. It is not sent to us. We cannot read the profile without that password. Ordinary web-server logs may record that the file was requested. We remove a hosted profile when it expires or when asked.

What we do not do

• No account, sign-up, or TecAv cloud of your training
• No analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking
• No sale of personal information
• No location, contacts, camera, Health, or advertising identifier

Permissions

• Microphone — record a line, and any check that listens to you.
• Speech recognition — turn a spoken check into text. On the device first. Apple or Google only if the device cannot do it.
• Photo library — optional menu picture.
• Internet — only when you download a company profile, or when a spoken check has to use Apple or Google speech recognition. Not used for advertising.

Apple App Privacy and Google Data safety

TecAv does not collect data from the app. Recordings, scripts, and photos stay on the device, so they are not “data collected” by us.

Audio from a spoken check may be shared with Apple or Google for speech recognition when on-device recognition is not available. That is optional, you start it by using the check, and it is not used for advertising or tracking. The answers to paste into App Store Connect and Play Console are on the store listing page.

Retention and deletion

Data stays on the device until you delete a profile, a recording, or the app, or you erase the device. There is no TecAv account to delete. Return to the welcome page from Settings does not erase profiles. If you have emailed us a file or a screenshot for support, ask support@tecav.com.au to delete that correspondence.

Children

Flight Crew Trainer is for adults who need to practise operational calls. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
